Urban Exploration

A part of history kept alive with the help of a photo or a video!

Oslo People - Norway - 2014

– – Why?

1) Because we humans need to understand more about our ancestors and how they have lived before you arrived

2) We need to examine nature a little more, it is quite important and complex, especially when it integrates with what we have build on mother earth

3) Simply it produces beautiful and peculiar imagery

4) The topic itself is quite interesting to investigate, do for yourself and fall back upon later in time

– – What’s first?

Preservation is everything, has always been and always will. Although I merely take a snapshot of what once was, my brain creates the memory that is necessary to remember for years to come.

First I investigate about the thing, the site, the building, the area, its past and the stories about why it got abandoned.

Then I plan a trip to the specific abandoned place with a good fellow or 2.

Usually I travel by car and when it’s closeby I use the bike.

When the day comes, I set off and go explore.

– – Exposure!

Now, one thing must be noted; it is unfortunately forbidden to explore such sites due to local or public advisory from police or the government. So, due to this, it is carefully advised to investigate this before your exploration. If possible, ask permission from the owner if you can track him or them.

Mostly, the sites I visit are more than a couple decades old and forgotten due to all sorts of reasons. But it is never completely a forgotten property. Sometimes it takes decades or plenty more years for the owner to start reconstruction or decommission works.

So, due to this, always be careful what you do on such sites. Security nowadays is luring everywhere and police is never too far away.

With the help of this website, I expose my explorations. Enjoy my photos and videos from wild adventures and crazy stories untold.

Today it looks a little different, but in its heyday it was a massive complex where everyone’s packages and letters were sorted and distributed.

Many Antwerpians still remember the gray-looking building near the Berchem railway station very well. The building’s infrastructure got a bit old and they had to find a new location to upgrade their facility.

I was able to capture the outside and inside of this unexisting building before it was too late.

Since 2022 Bpost moved to Noorderlaan 395 in Antwerpen with a new name: Antwerpen X
